My Role: Sole UX Designer

Understanding the Importance of a Design System

While creating this design system, I ensured…

  1. that every application component is consistent with the overall design language and optimized for usability and accessibility.

  2. a cohesive and consistent user experience across the application by providing guidelines and standards for visual design, typography, colour palettes, and other key design elements.

  3. these Improvements allow users to easily navigate and understand how to use the different features by creating a consistent look and feel across the app.

  4. that it can lead to better engagement and more effective medication management.

Problems

An app can look good visually without a well-thought-out design system, but without it, it was difficult to ensure stability in maintaining user trust and satisfaction.

Each element of an app's interface seemed designed in isolation, resulting in inconsistencies in visual styles, layouts, and interactions. These inconsistencies made the app feel disorganized and confusing. It made it more difficult to make updates or changes to an app's design, leading to a slower and more cumbersome design process.

To solve this issue, several measures were taken.

Before & After

Takeways

Overall, a well-designed app with a strong design system can help build trust with the user. Allowing the app to feel more trustworthy and reliable, encourages adherence to medication, and ultimately leads to better health outcomes.

In addition, I learned how a design system can also facilitate collaboration between designers and developers, making it easier to create and maintain a high-quality product. With clear guidelines and standards, everyone on the team can work towards a common goal and ensure that the app is designed and developed with stability and scalability.
